How Pralidoxime works
Pralidoxime works by binding to the phosphorylated (inhibited) form of AChE, forming a complex. This binding allows pralidoxime to remove the phosphate group from the AChE enzyme, essentially reactivating it. Once reactivated, AChE can resume its normal function of breaking down acetylcholine, which helps to restore normal nerve function and reduce the toxic effects caused by excessive acetylcholine.
