Uses of Allylestrenol

Allylestrenol is used to treat intrauterine growth retardation (growth of the foetus is lesser than its normal growth rate), threatened abortion (vaginal bleeding at less than 20 weeks of gestation), and threatened premature delivery (onset of labor between 24 and 37 weeks of pregnancy) in affected women. It is also used to treat habitual abortion.

Allylestrenol works by promoting the attachment of embryo to the lining of the womb which also improves blood flow to the placenta thus relaxing the uterus muscles and preventing the occurrence of premature labor in affected women.
