Uses of Meclizine

Meclizine is used to prevent and provide relief from nausea, dizziness and vomiting associated with motion sickness (illness caused by motion during travel). It is also used to treat vertigo (spinning sensation) associated with diseases affecting the inner ear.

How Meclizine works

Meclizine works by suppressing vestibular stimulation by controlling the activity of hair cells in the inner ear and therefore helpful in treating vertigo symptoms like dizziness and spinning sensation. It also reduces the activity of central nervous system (by anticholinergic effect) and reduces symptoms like nausea and vomiting sensation associated with motion sickness.

  • Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience drowsiness after taking Meclizine
  • Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Meclizine, as it may increase the risk of sedation
