How Loteprednol works

Loteprednol reduces pain and inflammation of the eye by inhibiting the production of certain substances in the body called prostaglandins and leukotrienes, that are responsible for causing inflammation (swelling, redness, itching, discomfort and pain) in the eye. 

Common side effects of Loteprednol

  • corneal abnormalities
  • eye discharge and discomfort
  • dry eyes
  • tearing
  • eye redness, pain, itching and burning
  • headache
  • elevated pressure in the eyes

When to consult your doctor

Consult your doctor if you experience:

  • in case of accidental overdosage
  • severe allergic reaction (redness, itching, or swelling of the membrane covering the white part of the eye or eyelid, trouble breathing and swallowing, flushing, redness, swollen face or tongue)

Health Tips for Loteprednol

  • Before using Loteprednol, wash your hands thoroughly to minimise the risk of introducing any contaminants into the eye. Handle the dropper bottle carefully to avoid contamination and prevent eye injury
  • Keep the tip of the eye dropper clean and free from any debris. Wipe away any excess medication or discharge around the eye with a clean tissue or cloth
  • Avoid wearing contact lenses before using Loteprednol. Wait for at least 15 minutes after using the drops before reinserting your contact lenses
  • Do not share Loteprednol with others, as this can lead to the spread of infections or other complications
  • Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy
