How Levamisole works

Levamisole works by paralyzing intestinal worms which are then excreted from the intestines. It also enhances the activity of immune responses in the body.

Common side effects of Levamisole

• nervousness, sleepiness, dizziness
• depression
• nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, diarrhoea, constipation
• skin rash and inflammation, red swollen spots
• inflammation of the mouth
• change in smell

When to consult your doctor

Consult your doctor:

• If you experience allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, swollen face or chest tightness
• If you experience a decrease in white blood cells (neutropenia) causing flu-like symptoms such as chills, fever, fatigue
• If you experience disorders of the brain and nerves (leukoencephalopathy). Symptoms are confusion, loss of memory, unusual sleepiness, unusual itching or tingling, muscle weakness, seizures, coma, or speech disturbances
• If you experience symptoms of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) causing sudden stomach pain
• In case of accidental overdose or ingestion
