Levamisole works by paralyzing intestinal worms which are then excreted from the intestines. It also enhances the activity of immune responses in the body.

- nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, diarrhoea, constipation
- skin rash and inflammation, red swollen spots
- inflammation of the mouth
- change in smell

- If you experience allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, swollen face or chest tightness
- If you experience a decrease in white blood cells (neutropenia) causing flu-like symptoms such as chills, fever, fatigue
- If you experience disorders of the brain and nerves (leukoencephalopathy). Symptoms are confusion, loss of memory, unusual sleepiness, unusual itching or tingling, muscle weakness, seizures, coma, or speech disturbances
- If you experience symptoms of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) causing sudden stomach pain
- In case of accidental overdose or ingestion
