Ilaprazole works by inhibiting the action of hydrogen-potassium adenosine triphosphatase (an enzyme responsible for acid secretion in the stomach) which leads to the reduced acid formation in the stomach thus providing relief from dyspepsia, gastric and duodenal ulcer, and gastroesophageal reflux disease.
