How Hydrochlorothiazide+Irbesartan works

Hydrochlorothiazide acts by removing excess water from the body in the form of urine. This reduces swelling of body parts and prevents fluid accumulation. It also reduces the thickness of blood which reduces the strain on the heart and helps the heart to pump blood more smoothly with less pressure.

Irbesartan works by relaxing the blood vessel by blocking the action of a chemical (angiotensin-II) that usually makes blood vessels tighter. This lowers the blood pressure, which allows the blood to flow more smoothly to different organs and the heart to pump more efficiently.

Common side effects of Hydrochlorothiazide+Irbesartan

• Nausea or vomiting
• Abnormal urination
• Fatigue
• Dizziness (including when getting up from a lying or sitting position)

Consult your doctor, if you experience:

• serious allergic reaction (symptoms such as itchy red rash, feeling dizzy or faint, swelling of the face, lips, and/or tongue which may cause difficulty breathing)
• yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes, severe upper stomach pain, and feeling and being sick (maybe due to liver problems)
• ash with raised purple spots and flat red areas caused by inflammation of small blood vessels (vasculitis)

• Take Hydrochlorothiazide+Irbesartan as prescribed by your Doctor. Do not exceed the recommended dosage. Do not skip doses or stop taking them without consulting your doctor
• Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol while taking this medicine to improve its effects
• Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel drowsy and sleepy after taking Hydrochlorothiazide+Irbesartan
• Follow a balanced and low-sodium diet to support your blood pressure management. Reduce your intake of processed foods, fast food and high-sodium snacks
• Drink an adequate amount of water unless your healthcare provider
• Inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements
• Hydrochlorothiazide+Irbesartan is not recommended for use in pregnant or planning for pregnancy or breastfeeding women
