Uses of Doxofylline+Montelukast

The combination of Doxofylline + Montelukast is used to manage the symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It can also be used to reduce airway inflammation (such as bronchitis), apnea (lack of breathing), seasonal allergic rhinitis (nasal congestion, repeated sneezing, nasal itching or a red, watery, and itchy eyes) and other respiratory diseases associated with bronchospasm (tightening of airways).

How Doxofylline+Montelukast works

Doxofylline + Montelukast blocks the release of certain chemicals (such as phosphodiesterase, leukotrienes) in the respiratory tract that triggers airway inflammation, swelling and narrowing. As a result, it widens the airways, reduces airway inflammation and allows the air to pass through more freely through the airways which makes breathing easier.

• behaviour and mood related changes (anxiety, aggressive behaviour or hostility, depression, suicidal thoughts, hallucinations)

• Take Doxofylline + Montelukast as advised by your physician. Strictly follow the dosing schedule as instructed by your physician
• Do not stop taking Doxofylline + Montelukast once your symptoms subside without consulting your doctor, as it may make your symptoms reappear once again
• Doxofylline + Montelukast is only used to prevent or manage the symptoms of asthma. If your asthma or breathing gets worse suddenly, contact your doctor immediately or go to the hospital straight away
• Limit the consumption of foods and beverages rich in caffeine (such as coffee) while taking Doxofylline + Montelukast
• Before taking Doxofylline + Montelukast, inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or heart problems, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, stomach ulcers or any concomitant infections as a precaution
• Do not take Doxofylline + Montelukast without consulting your doctor if you have severe hypotension or heart problems (such as myocardial infarction) and if you are breastfeeding
• Inform your doctor before taking Doxofylline + Montelukast if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant
