Uses of Dorzolamide+Timolol

The combination of Dorzolamide + Timolol is used to treat increased pressure in the eye caused due to glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

Therapeutic Category

Dorzolamide: Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors

Timolol: Beta-blockers

How Dorzolamide+Timolol works

Dorzolamide + Timolol reduces intraocular pressure by decreasing the production of aqueous humour (a type of lubricating eye fluid) in the eye. As a result, it reduces strain on the eyes which therefore reduces elevated intraocular pressure.

  • severe eye irritation, inflammation or redness, blurred vision and swelling of eyelids
  • blistering and peeling of the skin
  • coughing, wheezing, abnormal breathing or abnormal pauses in breathing (apnoea)

Health Tips for Dorzolamide+Timolol

  • Use Dorzolamide + Timolol exactly as instructed by your physician. Misuse or overuse of this medicine may lead to unwanted side effects
  • If you wear soft contact lenses, remove the lens before applying Dorzolamide + Timolol eye drops or eye ointment and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinsertion

  • Instil few drops of this medicine into the affected eye(s). Do not touch the tip of the dropper with your eye or with other body surface to avoid contamination
