How Dapsone works
Dapsone acts as both antibacterial and antiprotozoal medicine in the same way as sulphonamides, that is by inhibiting the synthesis of di-hydro folic acid through competition with a chemical that is necessary for the growth and multiplication of the microorganisms (bacteria, protozoa). Also, it acts as an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory agent in the treatment of acne vulgaris which works by inhibiting the synthesis of folic acid which is necessary for the growth of bacteria. Thus, stops the multiplication of bacteria. As an anti-inflammatory agent, it decreases inflammation and heals the breakout.
