Uses of Dapagliflozin+Metformin

The combination of Dapagliflozin and Metformin is used to treat type-2 diabetes mellitus along with diet and exercise when diabetes cannot be controlled with other medicines.

How Dapagliflozin+Metformin works

Dapagliflozin + Metformin effectively lowers blood sugar levels where Dapagliflozin inhibits the sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) in kidneys which allows excretion of excessive glucose through urine and Metformin makes the body more sensitive to insulin (a hormone involved in glucose metabolism). This helps our body cells to utilize more amount of the circulating blood glucose, thereby reducing blood sugar levels. Additionally, it also prevents glucose production by the liver and reduces its absorption in the body.

  • If you experience fever, chills, burning sensation while passing urine, back pain or blood in urine (signs of urinary tract infection)
  • If you experience weakness, shaking, sweating, drowsiness, dizziness, feeling very anxious, fast heartbeat, hunger, headache, change in vision, change in mood or confusion, and irritability (signs of low blood sugar)
  • If you experience skin rash, raised red patches on skin, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and throat causing difficulty in breathing or swallowing (symptoms of serious allergic reactions)

  • Maintain a balanced diet that includes whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and healthy fats.
