Uses of Clopidogrel
Clopidogrel is used to prevent blood clots (thrombi) forming in hardened blood vessels (atherothrombosis) and treat atherosclerotic events (myocardial infraction). It also used to prevent in-stent restenosis in patients undergo percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Clopidogrel works by preventing platelets from sticking together, thereby decreasing the formation of harmful blood clots that results in the lower chance of occurrence of heart attack or stroke.
Common side effects of Clopidogrel
- bleeding inside the head, lungs, stomach, bowels, eyes or joints
- nosebleed
- bruising
- haematoma (unusual bleeding or bruising under the skin)
- blood in the urine
- diarrhea
- abdominal pain
- indigestion
- heartburn

- signs of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura such as fever, whether or not associated with bleeding which appears under the skin as red pinpoint dots, with or without unexplained extreme tiredness, and confusion
- signs of liver problems such as yellowing of the skin and/or the eyes (jaundice)
- signs of allergic skin reaction such as swelling in the mouth, rashes, itching, and blisters of the skin
