Uses of Cabergoline
Cabergoline is used to stop breast milk production soon after childbirth, stillbirth, abortion or miscarriage. It is also used to treat hormonal disturbance such as idiopathic hyperprolactinaemia or tumours of the pituitary gland in both men and women.

How Cabergoline works
Cabergoline prevents lactation (production of milk) by decreasing the amount of hormone called prolactin (a hormone which stimulates the breast to produce milk).
Common side effects of Cabergoline
- drowsiness, headache
- nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, indigestion, inflamed stomach lining, constipation
- dizziness, vertigo
- fatigue, lack of bodily strength, weakness
- blurred vision
- low blood pressure after childbirth
- breast pain
- depression
- sleep disturbances, excessive daytime drowsiness/sleepiness
- low blood pressure (which can result in dizziness upon standing)
- hot flushes

- in case of accidental overdosage
- if you experience abnormal or unusual thoughts
- if you experience heart valve and related disorders Ex. inflammation of heart (pericarditis) or leakage of fluid in the pericardium (pericardial effusion). Symptoms include difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, pounding heart, feeling faint, chest pain, back pain, pelvic pain or swollen legs. These may be the first signs of a condition called pulmonary fibrosis, which can affect the lungs, heart or heart valves or lower back
- if you experience allergic reactions such as widespread itchy rash, difficulty breathing with or without wheezing, feeling faint, unexplained swelling of the body or tongue

- Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Cabergoline, as it may increase the risk of side effects associated with the medication
- Cabergoline may cause skin sensitivity to sunlight. Avoid prolonged sun exposure and use sunscreen with a high SPF, wear protective clothing, and use sunglasses when outdoors
- Stay hydrated by drinking an adequate amount of water daily as it can help minimise side effects, such as dizziness and constipation
