Trazodone is used to treat symptoms of depression (major depressive episodes).

Therapeutic Category

Trazodone: Anti-depressants

How Trazodone works

Trazodone works effectively in reducing the symptoms of depression by inhibiting the reuptake of a nerve chemical called serotonin (in depression, concentration of serotonin is low). This inhibition causes the increase in the concentration of serotonin thus, relieving the symptoms of depression.
