How Bimatoprost works
Bimatoprost effectively reduces pressure within the eyes, where bimatoprost acts by increasing the drainage of the fluids (aqueous humour) accumulated within the eye. This reduces strain on the eyes and therefore reduces the elevated intraocular pressure.
Common side effects of Bimatoprost
- Eye redness
- Changes in and around the eyes (such as deepening of your eyelid crease, sunken eye, drooping eyelids, tightening of the skin around your eye, and the lower white part of your eye become more visible)
- Small breaks in the eye surface, with or without inflammation
- Eye irritation, itching or pain
- A feeling that something got in eye
- Longer eyelashes
- Darker skin colour around the eye
- Dry eye
