How Benzoyl Peroxide works

Benzoyl Peroxide works against the acne-causing bacteria. This medicine after applying on the affected skin gets absorbed and is converted into benzoic acid. This benzoic acid gets metabolized by skin proteins and releases active free-radical oxygen species that results in the alteration of bacterial proteins. This helps to treat acne or pimples. Benzoyl peroxide also acts as a keratolytic agent which promotes peeling of the skin and absorb excess oil from the skin further preventing acne formation and skin irritation.
