Uses of Benzhexol+Trifluoperazine
The combination of Trifluoperazine and Benzhexol is used to manage symptoms and stops the relapse in schizophrenia (disorder that affects a person's ability to think, feel and behave clearly) and in other psychoses, especially paranoid type which is also used as an adjunct in the short-term management of severe psychomotor agitation and of dangerously impulsive behavior such as mental sub-normality.
It is also used for the symptomatic control of all forms of Parkinsonism (disorder of the central nervous system that affects movement) including the postencephalitic arteriosclerotic and idiopathic types which favorably influences rigidity and akinesia in the majority of patients with reduction of salivation.

How Benzhexol+Trifluoperazine works
Benzhexol + Trifluoperazine helps to manage the symptoms of schizophrenia with symptomatic control of Parkinson’s disease, where trifluoperazine blocks the action of a chemical messenger (dopamine) in the brain that affects thoughts and mood. Benzhexol acts by blocking a certain natural substance (acetylcholine) which helps to reduce muscle stiffness, sweating and the production of saliva thereby improving walking ability in people with Parkinson's disease.

When to consult your doctor
Consult your doctor:
- In case of accidental overdosage
- If you experience signs of an allergic reaction such as rash, swallowing or breathing problems, swelling of your lips, face, eyelids, throat or tongue
- If you experience signs of neuroleptic malignant syndrome (life threatening neurological disorder) such as high temperature, rigid muscles, drowsiness, occasional loss of consciousness
- If you experience chest pain (angina) which is getting worse
- If you experience breast enlargement in men
- If you experience inappropriate milk production
- If you experience altered menstrual cycle
- If you experience signs of blood problems such as sore throat, high fever, feeling very tired, becoming pale, developing bruises and nose bleeds
- If you experience slurred speech, odd movements of the face, particularly of the tongue, eyes, head or neck (such as twisting of the neck which causes an unnatural positioning of the head, rigid muscles, restlessness or tremors and difficulty while sitting still)
- If you experience constant chewing or tongue movements or other gentle movements of the neck, head or trunk
- If you experience uncontrollable movements of the arms and legs
- If you experience difficulty in sleeping
- If you experience difficulty in passing urine or inability to pass urine
Health Tips for Benzhexol+Trifluoperazine
- Take Benzhexol + Trifluoperazine exactly as directed by your doctor. Follow the specified dosage and regimen. Do not change the dosage or discontinue the medicine without first consulting your doctor
- Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking Benzhexol + Trifluoperazine since it tends to weaken blood vessels and can raise blood pressure
- Benzhexol + Trifluoperazine might cause dizziness, drowsiness or blurred vision. If you experience these side effects, try to avoid driving or operating heavy machines. Consult your doctor before taking it
- Benzhexol + Trifluoperazine is not recommended for use during pregnancy and in breast-feeding women unless it is considered clearly necessary
- Benzhexol + Trifluoperazine is not recommended for use in patients with liver problems, inability of the heart to maintain adequate circulation causing breathlessness and swelling of the ankles, any blood disorders, closed-angle glaucoma or a narrow angle glaucoma (eye disorder that cause blindness), paralytic ileus (disorder that occurs due to temporary paralyzation of muscle contractions to move food through intestine)
- Before taking Benzhexol + Trifluoperazine inform your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken prescription medicines, over the counter drugs (OTC), supplements including herbal products as it may interact with each other leading to potential decrease in therapeutic effectiveness or increase the risk of any unusual effects
