Uses of MEFENAMIC ACID
Mefenamic Acid is used to relieve the symptoms of inflammation such as redness and swelling. It can be used to treat pain and discomfort caused due to arthritis (inflammation of joints) muscular diseases or rheumatoid disorders (inflammatory disorders affecting the muscles and joints). It can also be used in the treatment of headache, muscle pain, tooth ache, post operative pain, childbirth pain, fever in children and painful or heavy periods.

How MEFENAMIC ACID works
Mefenamic Acid works by binding to certain receptors in the body where it blocks the action of a particular chemical called prostaglandins in the body. Thus, it relieves pain, redness and swelling associated with various inflammatory conditions such as arthritis.

- In case of accidental overdosage
- If you experience signs of allergic reactions (such as difficulty in breathing or swallowing, swelling of the face, lips tongue or throat, severe skin itching, red rashes, or raised lumps, blistering of the mouth, eyes and genital area, patchy areas of rash, peeling of skin)
- If you experience diarrhoea, passing blood in the stools, passing black tarry stools
- If you experience vomiting of blood or dark particles similar to coffee grounds
- If you experience signs of stomach problems (such as indigestion or heartburn, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting)
- If you experience signs of anaemia (such as feeling tired, breathless, and paleness, sore throat, mouth ulcers, repeated infections)
- If you experience signs of low sodium levels (such as headache, nausea, vomiting, tiredness, muscle cramps
- If you experience sudden headache, stiff neck, fever, sensitivity to bright light, drowsiness, muscle pain, with or without a rash
- If you experience signs of kidney problems (such as fever, rash, nausea, aches and pains, passing more or less urine than usual, passing red urine or urination during night)

Health Tips for MEFENAMIC ACID
- Take mefenamic acid exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not exceed the recommended dosage or duration of use without consulting your healthcare provider
- Mefenamic acid can be taken with or without food. Taking it with food or milk can help minimize stomach irritation, which is a common side effect of NSAIDs
- Stay well-hydrated while taking mefenamic acid. Drinking plenty of water can help support kidney function and reduce the risk of kidney-related complications
- If you have a history of stomach ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, or other digestive issues, discuss with your doctor whether additional measures, such as protective medications, are necessary
- Alcohol can increase the risk of stomach bleeding and other gastrointestinal side effects when combined with mefenamic acid. It's best to avoid alcohol while taking this medication
- If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, discuss the use of mefenamic acid with your healthcare provider. NSAIDs should be used cautiously during these periods
