Uses of Alogliptin
Alogliptin is used for treating Type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when the blood sugar levels cannot be adequately controlled by diet, exercise and other oral anti-diabetic medicines.

Alogliptin works by increasing the levels of insulin in the body after a meal and decreasing the amount of sugar in the body.

- symptoms of low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) such as trembling, sweating, anxiety, blurred vision, tingling lips, paleness, mood change or confusion
- blocked nose, sore throat (cold symptoms)
- rash, itchy skin
- headache
- stomach pain, diarrhea, indigestion, heartburn

- Carry some sugar lumps, sweets, biscuits or sugary fruit juice in case of low blood sugar levels (symptoms such as trembling, sweating, anxiety, blurred vision, tingling lips, paleness, mood change or confusion)
- Avoid foods with added sugars such as sweets, cakes, biscuits, chocolates, fizzy drinks and juices
- Lose excess weight
- Quit smoking
- Avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medicine as it increases the risk of low blood sugar levels
